UAE and Ecuador foreign ministers meet in Abu Dhabi to expand cooperation under trade pact

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed has received Ecuador's foreign minister Roberto Pesantes in Abu Dhabi for talks on expanding economic, trade and investment cooperation under the two countries' Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
The United Arab Emirates and Ecuador have held talks in Abu Dhabi on strengthening their partnership, with a focus on the trade and investment opportunities created by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Roberto Pesantes, Ecuador's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, on Thursday. The two sides discussed bilateral relations and avenues for cooperation across the economic, trade and investment sectors within the framework of the agreement, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
They also reviewed cooperation in tourism, culture, education and air transport, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Sheikh Abdullah said the partnership agreement had opened broad prospects for cooperation and joint action across various sectors, contributing to shared prosperity for both countries and their peoples, and affirmed the deep-rooted ties between the UAE and Ecuador. The meeting was attended by Ibrahim Al Alawi, the UAE's ambassador to Peru and non-resident ambassador to Ecuador.
The talks are the latest in a series of economic partnership agreements through which the UAE has been widening its trade relationships beyond the Gulf, using the pacts to open new markets for Emirati investment and non-oil trade.
