Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a two-day Gujarat visit to launch development projects worth over Rs 14,000 crore, release the 24th PM-KISAN instalment of Rs 19,000 crore and flag off two train services.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day visit to Gujarat on Friday, holding a roadshow in Banaskantha ahead of inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs 14,000 crore across the state.

In Banaskantha, Modi dedicated the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre at Bhildi, a 127-acre centre of excellence with an embryo transfer and in-vitro fertilisation laboratory. He also laid the foundation stone for the extension of the Ahmedabad Metro: Phase 2A will run for more than six kilometres with five stations from Koteshwar Road to the airport, while Phase 2B will cover over 3.3 kilometres with three stations from GIFT City to Shahpur. The Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road, State Highway 41, will be widened from four lanes to eight at a cost of around Rs 2,600 crore.

The prime minister released the 24th instalment of the PM-KISAN income support scheme, amounting to around Rs 19,000 crore for farmers across the country, and flagged off two train services - the Ahmedabad (Sabarmati)-Varanasi Express and the Mehsana-Becharaji-Sabarmati MEMU. He also laid the foundation stone for 4,030 new child-friendly Anganwadi centres, inaugurated 361 completed centres - an Rs 800 crore initiative expected to benefit more than four lakh people - and dedicated 521 projects completed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, worth about Rs 4,950 crore.

On Saturday, Modi will travel to Ekta Nagar for the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, where he will offer tributes at the Statue of Unity, inaugurate the Bharat Parv 2026 cultural and tourism festival, attend the Narmada Aarti and launch further projects worth over Rs 400 crore.

Officials said the packed schedule underlines the government's focus on infrastructure, agriculture and rural welfare in the prime minister's home state ahead of a busy winter of public programmes.
